Important RARC information for the 2022-2023 school year.
RARC friends,
Wow- can you believe that the 2022-2023 school year marks the 12th year of RARC?! We have watched RARC change and grow throughout the years, and we are announcing a significant change to RARC starting this school year and moving forward.
CYBER.ORG is moving away from hosting RARC competitions (both in person and virtual). Our focus instead is moving to virtual Cybersecurity Capture the Flag competitions.
We remain committed to providing schools and organizations with content to develop skills of STEM, programming, critical thinking and teamwork. With that being said, we will continue to collaborate with our partners to provide a themed RARC mat and RARC guidelines for an elementary division, middle school division and high school parallax division this year.
We encourage schools and school districts to use these robotics guidelines to best fit the needs of their school and students. This could include using the guidelines to teach programming in a STEM/robotics elective course or as content for an afterschool club. We hope that more organizations will continue to use our RARC guidelines as well.
If desired, we also encourage schools and districts to take advantage of this opportunity to host their own robotics competitions using the released content. This could include having a school wide robotics competition or a special competition for a parent showcase. Schools and clubs that participate in larger robotics competitions could use our guidelines to help practice various tasks and programming.
Here are some questions that we anticipate:
- Are you hosting an in person RARC competition?
- No
- Are you hosting a RARC competition where we submit videos (like last year)?
- No
- How do we access 2022-2023 RARC guidelines and the new RARC mat?
- Guidelines and mat ordering information will still be available on this site
- RARC mats will be available for purchase through Nasco in September 2022.
- When will guidelines be available?
- Guidelines 1 will be available in September 2022
- Guidelines 2 will be available in December 2022
- Guidelines 3 will be available in March 2023
- What if we have questions about the released guidelines and need clarification?
- Guideline questions can still be submitted on this site. We will post submitted questions and answers on this page also.
- Is there a cost?
- There is a cost for the RARC mat (Nasco) and equipment (various retailers). The guidelines will continue to be available at no cost.
We hope to see more schools and organizations across the nation continue to utilize RARC content! We look forward to sharing more information with schools and organizations about our virtual capture the flag competitions this school year.
